Social Media Debate: Representing Atrocities Online

To mark Holocaust Memorial Day, the Wiener Library’s Young Volunteers are hosting a social media debate at the Library for young people aged 16-25. In an informal setting, the topic of discussion will be: ‘How should we regulate material on the internet relating to the Holocaust and genocide?’ We'll be covering questions about age limits and appropriateness of material, ethics of displaying atrocity imagery, issues of freedom of information and data protection, whether archives should make their material accessible and whether more could be done to prevent the spread of Holocaust denial material. The Library (@wienerlibrary) will be live-tweeting the main points made in the discussion and members of the public will be able to join in on Twitter using the hashtag #WLdebate. To attend the debate at the Library you must be aged 16-25, please email kjackson@wienerlibrary.co.uk to register.
