In partnership with the Institute of Physics, we present a dramatic work of art in the rarely-visited underground ice wells beneath the museum. Artist Lyndall Phelps and physicist Dr. Ben Still have collaborated to produce this extraordinary piece, inspired by the work of particle physicists. The ice wells echo many aspects of the homes of particle detectors, some of which are beneath ice. The installation has grown out of Lyndall's interest in the beauty and mystery of particle detectors and the means of particle detection.
