Arhiv furioso and Theatre as a Museum, exhibition opening and presentation of a publication

The Muzeum Institute, which decisively contributed to the introduction of visual arts and contemporary dance into Slovenian performing arts in the 1990s , celebrates its 30th anniversary. On this occasion, a publication entitled Theatre as a Museum has been co-published by the Slovenian Theatre Institute and the Muzeum Institute, led by the director, producer and curator Barbara Novakovič. The exhibition Arhiv furioso (on the premises of the Slovenian Theatre Institute) accompanies the release of the publication, engulfing the performative oeuvre of the Muzeum Theatre in years 1994–2024.

The all-inclusive archive of documents and references captures the encyclopaedic corpus of three decades of the Muzeum Institute's performative (theatre–dance) and exhibiting oeuvres. The contributions follow the Muzeum Theatre that was (after its first production Cricket in Fist, 1994) established as a study of the image-word, space-time, movementgesture, music – and its transformations. These are put in forefront by the structure of its work and, nonetheless, by the index of the publication. Since 2000 Muzeum was a partner in many international projects, while in Slovenia conceiving new production platforms and trilogies (1999–2024), in collaboration with either original team members or new generations of actors and dancers.
