Victorian Christmas

Join one of our special festive tours of the Fort and experience a military Christmas in the Victorian garrison. Step back in time and meet head cook Private Dobson in the kitchen as he prepares a Christmas feast for the soldiers. Visit the barrack room, festively decorated with oranges, cloves and greenery and learn about the life at the Fort for a soldier at Christmas, as well as Christmas traditions and ‘new’ fashions. Gather round and warm yourselves by the original kitchen range and enjoy some mulled wine and one of Mrs Blenkinsopp’s delicious mince pies. This is a free event, suitable for all the family. Times 11am 12pm 2pm 3pm The Fort will be closed on 24, 25 & 26 December.
