Jimi Hendrix’s Guitars
As displayed perfectly in the photo above, Hendrix is synonymous with one instrument – the Fender Stratocaster, lending the Strat an iconic status to this day. However, Jimi played a range of guitars that weren’t in fact Stratocasters. Nigel Jones will profile some of the coolest and most surprising of the guitars Hendrix used.
Saturday 20 October 11am-12pm
Electric Ladyland
This October will mark the 50th anniversary of the release of The Jimi Hendrix Experience’s classic album Electric Ladyland. Nigel Jones will demonstrate some of Hendrix’s innovations in guitar playing heard in songs like Crosstown Traffic, Burning of the Midnight Lamp and All Along the Watchtower.
Saturday 17 November 11am-12pm
Hendrix and the Blues
Hendrix famously said that “Blues is easy to play, but hard to feel”. Jimi was a lifelong student of the blues and often included his take on classic blues tracks in his live sets. Come and hear how Hendrix took blues music to its limits throughout his music.
