Speaker: Michael Forrest
Michael will explain why Britain was so heavily defended during the late nineteenth-century and will examine the building of the forts, the artillery of the time and the history of Fort Nelson.
Michael Forrest has had a life-long fascination in military history, and now regularly speaks on various Victorian military and First World War subjects. His interests include membership of the Palmerston Forts Society, based at Fort Nelson, where he dresses in the uniform of a 1880s volunteer artilleryman, performing authentic gun drills and firing garrison artillery.
