Residency Launch with Hannah Lowe and Michael Rosen

Join us on Burns Night to welcome Hannah Lowe as she takes over from Michael Rosen as Keats House Poet in Residence. Celebrating the spirit of Burns, Michael will reflect on his residency and Hannah will read from her award-winning collections, 'Chick' (2013) and 'Chan' (2016), which explore themes of family, multiculturalism, heritage and London. Hannah Lowe’s first poetry collection, 'Chick' (Bloodaxe, 2013) won the Michael Murphy Memorial Award for Best First Collection and was short-listed for the Forward, Aldeburgh and Seamus Heaney Best First Collection Prizes. In September 2014, she was named as one of 20 Next Generation poets. She has also published three chapbooks: 'The Hitcher' (Rialto 2012); 'R x' (sine wave peak 2013); and 'Ormonde' (Hercules Editions 2014). Her family memoir, 'Long Time, No See' was published by Periscope in July 2015 and featured as Radio 4’s Book of the Week. Her second collection, 'Chan', is published by Bloodaxe (2016). Michael Rosen was born in 1946 in North London. One of the best-known figures in the children’s book world, he is renowned for his work as a poet, performer, broadcaster and scriptwriter. As an author and by selecting other writers’ works for anthologies he has been involved with over 140 books. He lectures and teaches in universities on children’s literature, reading and writing. Michael is a familiar voice to BBC listeners and is currently presenting Word of Mouth, the magazine programme that looks at the English language and the way we use it. He visits schools with his one-man show to enthuse children with his passion for books and poetry.
