New Evidence for the Holocaust

In this talk, Dr Plesch will present findings detailed in his most recent book Human Rights After Hitler, which reveal that in 1944, the United Nations War Crimes Commission endorsed indictments by Poland of Nazis for their crimes in the death camp system, and that these indictments were supported by the nations on the Commission including Britain, China, India, the United States, and the exiled governments of continental Europe. These cases provide a foundation for twenty-first-century human rights advocacy and accompany the achievements of the Nuremberg trials and post-war conventions. Dr Plesch will explore their potential impact in combating Nazi resurgence. About the Speaker Dan Plesch is director of the Centre for International Studies and Diplomacy at SOAS, University of London. He is the author of America, Hitler and the UN, co-editor of Wartime Origins and the Future United Nations, and has been a frequent contributor to The Guardian and other media.
