Takeover Day 2016

During our closed period, we are inviting one year five or six class to the Museum to create a behind-the-scenes film about how we care for our collections, with local BTEC Creative Media students. The students will work alongside museum staff members and local experts to plan and create video content, posters and other material to promote awareness of collections care. In small groups, students will focus on a specialist area of collections care, for example, on pest prevention, packing and storing objects, or preventing theft. The materials will play an important role at the Museum. They will help us to train staff members and volunteers, promote best practice and awareness around the Museum, and will be used in visitor interpretation and on our website to demonstrate how we look after the collection. In December will arrange a celebration event with the schools, to thank the primary and BTEC students for their work. During the event we will screen the edited film and provide tickets for pupils to visit the Museum to see our toy themed Christmas displays.
