The Legacy of British Involvement in Afghanistan

2010 saw 733 civilians’ injured and 393 killed from Improvised Explosive Devices in Afghanistan. Over the course of that Summer, Photojournalist Kate Holt was the only UK photographer to be allowed to access to the specialist team working to locate and defuse these deadly devices. 15 years later Kate returned to Afghanistan to examine the legacy of the UK’s military occupation. A raw and unflinching talk about the realities of the Afghanistan conflict and the long-term impact on the landscape and the people. Kate Holt is a freelance photo-journalist and regular Guardian contributor. She has been nominated twice for the Amnesty Award for Humanitarian Reporting.
