UK Homefront present a living history weekend revealing the Hamlet's involvement in the Second World War.
It is 1943 and the Ministry of Supply has a request to re-open the forge at Abbeydale Works to manufacture an item that will be vital in the forthcoming invasion of Europe.
The Abbeydale site is chosen as Sheffield can attract the the skilled workers it needs but is small and compact enough to allow work to be carried out in secret. Workers can also be housed in the accomodation making the site self sufficient. All the vital services to support the security and safety of the site would also be self contained within the Hamlet boundaries.
Let the 'Man from the Ministry' Tour Guide introduce you to the people in charge of each area of the site including -
Home Guard
ARP
WVS / Nursing
Washing
Wartime Cooking / Rationing
Manager's House
Forge Staff
