Dare you enter the Priestgate Vaults?
To celebrate this year’s Heritage Festival, we’re creaking open the doors for a one-off late night tour to offer more opportunities to experience the newest heritage attraction in Peterborough and celebrate 500 years of local history.
The Priestgate Vaults are the historic cellars under Peterborough Museum, revealing 500 years of history from this building and the city.
The cellars have original features, including windows from the Tudor house, the Georgian wine cellar, coal cellar and a room we used as an air raid shelter during World War II. As part of an escorted tour you will explore these rooms as characters from the past tell their stories, brought to life using new technology and theatrical effects.
Like much of the Museum, the cellars have a reputation as being haunted. You will hear some of these ghost stories and may find some of them brought to life…
