Twickenham Stadium Arts Tour

The World Rugby Museum Twickenham Arts Tour lasts 90 minutes focusing on Twickenham Stadium’s extensive collection of sculpture and paintings, as well as the specialised modern interior design that can be found in the South Stand’s corporate facilities and the England dressing room. The Arts Tour attracts interest from a wide range of groups beyond traditional rugby fans, including art students and enthusiasts. Highlights include: Tommy Steele’s Union sculpture; Gerald Laing’s Core Values sculpture; Gerald Laing’s Spirit of Rugby sculptures; a selection of William Barnes Wollen’s paintings including The Roses Match, Harry Gray’s Rose & Poppy Gates and the modern corporate interior design in the South Stand hospitality areas and the inspirational interior design in the England dressing room. The latest edition to the collection is the Rose & Poppy Gates part of the RFU’s World War 1 commemorations created by Artist & Sculptor Harry Gray and unveiled in April 2016. Harry Gray specializes in permanent artworks where concept, and the relationship of the work to the site enjoy equal importance. The piece incorporates 15 roses at the foot of the gates, with the 15th rose on each gate representing the man at the front, and forms the lock. A bronze bar at head height suggests the point where soldiers went over the top, beyond it the roses become poppies, each made from brass taken from shells fired by German artillery at the Allied trenches. Tour available to pre-booked groups (15+) Adult £18, Senior £13.50, Student on educational tour £10.80 (+ free adult supervisory place per 8 children). Prices are inclusive of 10% group discount.
