Master and Pupil

Henry Purcell was both preceded and succeeded as organist of Westminster Abbey by his musical father John Blow. The keyboard music of both these great figures is strangely enough scarcely known. Hungarian harpsichordist and organist Zsombor Tóth-Vajna will rectify this with a recital of the characteristic music of Blow and Purcell, full of splendid eccentricities in both melody and harmony. The program includes Suites and Grounds by Purcell, a d minor "double" suite and an extravagant F major Chaconne by Blow.
