Medieval Pageant 2016: Family Activities

Saturday 9 July 10am-5pm The Beaney Free Admission, drop in Meet Willian the thatcher and let him tell you all about medieval Canterbury. Then see our Magna Carta Baron statues and play medieval games! Beaney activities are part of the Medieval Pageant day 2016. The Canterbury Medieval Pageant on 9th July is the highlight of this Summer in the City! Commemorating Henry II’s pilgrimage to the tomb of Thomas Becket in 1174, accompanied by his Queen, Eleanor of Aquitaine, a Parade features characters from history as well as local children in medieval dress and starts from the Westgate at 10am, ending around noon. With music, drama and pageantry it is a ‘must see’ event. But that’s not all: between 11am and 5pm various locations in the city are part of the Medieval Family Trail. The Family Trail is for children of all ages … even “Middle Ages”! And children visiting four of the locations and getting their brochure stamped in each one will receive a FREE chocolate medallion from the Cathedral Shop at the end of the day. www.canterburymuseums.co.uk
