To celebrate the museum's new exhibition about children's books there will be a writer in residence at the museum throughout the weekend of the Festival of Museums. Author Alan Durant writes books for all ages of children, from toddlers to teenagers and he will spend 3 days at the museum encouraging people to talk or write about their childhood memories. Alan will deliver a reminiscence session on Friday 13th May for adults allowing them to record their stories and also be inspired by the museum's collections. On Saturday 14th there will be 2 sessions for children. A Nursery Rhymes session for younger children will be interactive with a mix of storytelling, songs and games. For older children, they will work with Alan to enable them to create their own children's story and artwork. On Sunday 15th all the participants will be invited to come together for our 'Tea and Tales' party. There will be a display of work from each of the sessions as well as informal storytelling 'performances' all celebrated with tea and cake!
