How did the waterfront in London develop in the Anglo-Saxon Period? In the last 25 years the discovery of quaysides, buildings, flood defences and bodies as well as numerous objects preserved in the Thames side mud have provided us with a glimpse into the how London's waterfronts were utilised by the Saxons .
Julian Ayre is an established archaeologist who worked for many years for the Museum of London Archaeology team and has excavated numerous city waterfront sites. He is currently project manager of the Stone Age to Corinium project for the Corinium Museum.
