Bad Language Presents: Voices of the City

One of Manchester’s most popular live literature nights, Bad Language, has commissioned new and established writers to create a series of short stories and poems inspired by archival footage of Manchester from the collections at North West Film Archive (part of Manchester Metropolitan University). Using footage chosen by the authors, the night will see new writing woven alongside the historical shots which have inspired the piece – creating a unique live literature experience in one of the city’s finest hidden gems. The new work will blend both fact and fiction to show the way North Manchester used to live and lives now. Confirmed Bad Language Line-up: Marli Roode Rodge Glass Polly Checkland Harding Abi Hynes Benjamin Judge Dave Hartley Having recently been named the Best Spoken Word Night in the UK, Bad Language has a growing reputation that allows it to attract some of the best names in literature and are delighted to be working with Manchester Jewish Museum and Manchester After Hours to allow this one-off event to happen. A collection of the writing will be available to purchase after the event. This event is part of Manchester After Hours, the rainy city’s take on the annual Museums at Night celebrations, Thursday 12 May, programmed by Creative Tourist.
