30 Years of Butler’s Field

Evening Lecture with James Harris Thursday 31 March, 7– 8.30pm The Anglo-Saxon cemetery at Butler’s Field near Lechlade was an exciting and prolific discovery adding to our understanding of the burial practices, daily life, appearance, technology and health of Anglo Saxons in the Cotswolds. It has been three decades since the rapid excavations took place, the objects carefully conserved and ultimately placed on public display in the Corinium Museum. Join Collections Officer, James Harris to find out about the Anglo-Saxon site, cemetery, excavations and people that were unearthed 30 years ago. James Harris is a qualified conservator and has worked for Shropshire Museums, the National Trust, English Heritage, and the Pitt Rivers Museum before joining the Corinium Museum in 2014 as Collections Officer.
