Standing at the heart of the city, Chester Cathedral is the largest complex of medieval buildings in Cheshire and one of the best preserved Benedictine abbeys in Britain. In this lecture the Revd Canon Peter Howell-Jones, Vice-Dean since 2011, reflects on developing the cathedral’s commercial offer, working with visitors and tour groups, reviewing the admission policy, and much more. The reintroduction of free admission, special exhibitions, and other initiatives such as ‘Cathedral at Height’ and the Falconry, are changing the way the congregation and citizens think about the cathedral.
