Paintings by Gavin Jantjes

As part of a collaboration with the Black Artists and Modernism project, the Herbert will be displaying a selection of paintings by Gavin Jantjes taken from his Korabra series. These powerful and dramatic paintings, which were created while Jantjes was artist in residence at the Coventry West Indian Association in 1986, examine the impact of the slave trade. They will be on display in the Art Since 1900 gallery from 27 February.
