Kennington Bioscope Presents The Matinee Idol (1928)

The Kennington Bioscope is a regular cinema event featuring live accompaniment to silent films that takes place at the Cinema Museum.

The main feature is The Matinee Idol (1928), directed by Frank Capra. A Broadway matinee idol famous for his black-face portrayals (Johnnie Walker) anonymously joins an amateur acting troupe and falls in love with the leading lady (Bessie Love).

A programme of silent shorts precedes the main film. Anyone interested in silent film should visit the website for more info.
