In Edinburgh between 1827 and 1828, science and murder clung together in a dance of death. Sixteen people were slaughtered by Burke and Hare; and the devil and all his work prowled the streets of Auld Reekie. Dr Robert Knox, scientist, doctor and anatomist supreme, waited in Surgeons Square to buy bodies for the sake of advancing medical knowledge. His door was chapped, a body was delivered, money was paid and no questions were asked. A trail of terror lead from West Port to the dissection table of Robert Knox. Murder would out and a price must be paid, even by the anatomist supreme.
The Case of the Obnoxious Anatomist is a new play by Isosceles Theatre exploring medical ethics and resurrection. This event features a Q&A session with Felicity Mehendale.
Please note tickets are free but must be booked in advance.
