Join us for Heritage Open Day on Sunday 13 September 2015, as we take a look behind the scenes at Mill Green Museum. Tour the museum's fascinating object stores with our knowledgeable staff and volunteers.
The event is combined with our Annual Murphy TV and Radio Day and Autumn Craft Event. See the fantastic display of vintage Murphy TVs and Radios manufactured by one of Welwyn Garden City's biggest employers during the twentieth century, and speak to the enthusiasts! Also meet local craft demonstrators, plus the chance to buy beautiful handmade craft items, jams, pickles and much more. There will also be creative children's craft activities and tasty afternoon refreshments available!
Explore our eighteenth century working watermill and museum set in an attractive riverside setting. The cluster of historic buildings here and the surrounding grounds are a beautiful oasis in our busy world. On milling days, see the magnificent watermill in action and find out from our miller about this ancient craft. Feel its power as the stones turn to make pure fresh flour the traditional way. See the water wheel turning and get close to the majestic wooden machinery and buy yourself a bag of freshly ground delicious wholemeal organic flour!
In the Museum, explore higgledy piggledy rooms packed with colourful displays of local art and exhibitions about our fascinating history. The Welwyn Hatfield Museum Service is based here and holds the social history collection for the district.
