Just minutes from Snape, Aldeburgh and RSPB Minsmere The Long Shop Museum offers fun for families, inspiring stories and feats of engineering, gorgeous designs and the Long Shop itself – a true icon of industrial revolution Britain.The Long shop Museum tells an inspiring story of enterprise and endeavour in this small Suffolk town and its remarkable factory.
Join us on our special Heritage Open Day where we will be offering regular guided tours around the historic Grade II listed buildings of the Garrett works, a key industry of the area. Here you can discover how a humble Suffolk blacksmith family became Victorian Revolutionaries, Britain's first female doctor, and Edwardian pioneers.
There will be drop-in family activities available, as well as teas, coffees, and fresh homemade cakes. Also fascinating storytelling sessions from Touching the Tide, a Heritage Lottery Fund Landscape Partnership scheme exploring the changing coast of Suffolk.
