Archaeological Illustration: - The Many Facets of Drawing the Past with Lorna Gray

Evening Lecture Thursday 29 October- 7pm – 8.30pm An evening lecture exploring the range of expertise required by an archaeological illustrator. Lorna Gray MCIfA will examine the many different aspects of recording the past encountered throughout her career in commercial archaeology. Lorna will share the secrets of artefact illustration and look beyond traditional illustrative roles into an unusual survey of a church roof and the satisfying value of map regression, using notable Gloucestershire landmarks as an example. She will analyse the wide range of techniques employed in archaeological illustration and discuss their continuity of use from the past to the present. Lorna is a freelance archaeological illustrator. She formerly enjoyed over twelve years' employment in an archaeological practice and her work has been published in regional and national journals.
