Faces of the South Downs

The Museum is pleased to host this special exhibition by photographer Anne Purkiss. The exhibition, set in the Museum’s Downland Gridshell Building, features a series of portraits of people whose lives are connected with the landscape of the South Downs National Park. The collection of photographs starts in 2002, when plans for the creation of a South Downs National Park were announced. The first series of pictures was shown in a touring exhibition in 2005/06. Ten years later, with new portraits, the ‘Faces of the South Downs’ project has become a record and a social document of people and landscape at a time of change.
