In the Chapel of the Nine Altars
The Flanders Fields Museum in Ypres, Belgium has commissioned a book called Assembly, containing over 174,000 names of those from the UK and Ireland who were killed in Belgium during World War One.
Visitors are invited to search for names they recognise and write their story on the blank page opposite, or place photocopies of photographs and letters on the pages. The book is accompanied by five chairs from St Audomarus Church in Passchendaele, each representing the casualties from one year of the war.
Part of a tour of the UK and Ireland, Assembly will return to Belgium in 2018 for display at the Museum.
