Emma Butcher is a PhD student at the University of Hull. Aside from her thesis, which responds to the Brontës as commentators of war, she represents postgraduate students on the British Association for Victorian Studies' executive committee and has just co-curated a new major exhibition at the Brontë Parsonage to mark the bicentenary of the Battle of Waterloo.
