Food for the people and the gods? Silver and pewter platters in late Roman Britain

Recent analysis of the surfaces of two large pewter platters found at Steane, Northamptonshire, in 2013 revealed traces of food. In this talk Dr Susan Walker presents the evidence from Steane and assesses the implications of this discovery for our understanding of the Mildenhall silver hoard in the British Museum and the Appleford hoard of pewter in the Ashmolean.
