We explore the impact the events of these dates had on Highland life. The Jacobite defeat in 1715 influenced the way many Highland chiefs reacted to Bonnie Prince Charlie in 1745.
The boom years of the long war with France ended in 1815 bringing economic distress to the Highlands and unemployment for the thousands of Highlanders serving with the army.
And while the First World War had an impact on every family in the country, the events of 1915, particularly the Battle of Festubert, had an enormous effect on the Highlands, as they involved the regiments recruited in this area.
