Secret Egypt challenges some of the enduring myths about ancient Egypt that are perpetuated through films, books and other popular media and invites the visitor to look at a range of archaeological evidence to revaluate what they understand about this remarkable civilisation.
The exhibition contains objects including statuary, coffins, stelae, ceramics, jewellery and animal and human mummies. These are presented in an exciting and thought-provoking way asking six key questions that reflect modern misconceptions and areas of controversy around the subject of ancient Egypt. These include: Beware the mummy’s curse? Were the Egyptians obsessed with death? Did aliens build the pyramids?
