Time Travelling History Festival

Running from 11am-4.30pm the festival features tented encampments spanning two millennia: from Roman times through medieval Britain and the Wars of the Roses, through to the English Civil War and 1940s Britain. At each camp visitors will get the chance to experience hands-on how life was lived by our ancestors, from homemaking and entertainment through to firing a musket. Special attractions also include a travelling ‘mint’ where you can see coins through the ages being stamped. And a merchant trader from Roman times, selling his wares. The History Festival takes our hands-on approach to history to an even greater level, filling the whole site with the sounds, smells, sights and experiences of our ancestors. It’s a unforgettable day out for the whole family.
