Cathy Bell, mezzo-soprano, will deliver a lecture-recital that explores light in the eighteenth century. Going to the opera, a night-time activity, involved candles to light not only the stage and the auditorium but also to light the journey to and from the opera house. Cathy will sing examples from a selection of Handel operas to illustrate this fascinating insight. This will be a closed and ticketed event whilst the museum remains open, free of charge to visitors until 10pm (with last admission at 9pm).
