Museums at Night - Amgeueddfeydd yn yr Nos - Catrin Finch

World-renowned classical harpist, arranger and composer Catrin Finch will perform at a special evening on Saturday 16 May in support of international charity WaterAid and the London Canal Museum. The concert coincides with the launch of her UK tour, which starts in Wales in May and the rest of the UK in October, and an exhibition of paintings by Simon Tarrant, which will be displayed at the museum from 6th to 31st may. Simon, an artist and art curator, created the artwork Red Sky for Catrin's new album, Tides, and this exhibition will showcase a new series of his paintings inspired by water, also titled Tides. The concert will include an auction of one of Simon Tarrant's original artworks to raise additional funds, and the exhibition will be displayed at the London Canal Museum from 6 - 31 May 2015. Described as "The Queen of Harps", Catrin has gifted the track Changing Tides to raise money for WaterAid and help bring safe water, toilets and hygiene to some of the world's poorest communities. She has recently seen their work in Ethiopia and met communities who have benefitted from WaterAid's life saving work. Catrin said "I became a WaterAid ambassador after Iearning that there are over 748 million people living without access to safe, clean water - a human tragedy that results in the needless deaths of over 1400 children every single day. As a mother I hope to help raise money and encourage people to support WaterAid's mission - to bring safe, clean water to everyone everywhere by 2030." Simon added "During my recent travels across India I witnessed first hand the extraordinary hardship suffered by both city and rural communities due to the lack of sustainable water and sanitation projects. There is an urgent need to supply basic amenities such as providing access to clean water taps, which is why I am actively fundraising for WaterAid." Catrin will arrive at the museum in style, on board the museum's 1950 London-built tug Bantam IV, at approximately 1845, to be welcomed by the audience. The recital begins at 1900. Following the recital there will be a Victoiran magic lantern show showing some amazing 19th century images. Be prepared to be amazed as pictures move on the screen! Starts 2130. No booking is needed after 2100 but to attend the recital booking is essential.
