The Museum of Brands is delighted to present An Evening Talk with Sam Delaney on his new book Mad Men and Bad Men: What Happened When British Politics Met Advertising as a part of the Museums at Night weekend.
Sam Delaney, a writer who has dabbled in the murky world of both politics and advertising, will be talking about his dark, revealing and frequently hilarious new book Mad Men and Bad Men: What Happened When British Politics Met Advertising.
This is a hugely entertaining behind-the-scenes tour of the election campaigns of the last four decades which examines how a bunch of unelected, unaccountable admen ended up running British politics.
Everything is here - the moment Margaret Thatcher met the Saatchi brothers, the famous 'Labour Isn't Working' poster and the infamous 'Demon Eyes' campaign. Here, too, are the stories they didn't want you to hear: the man who snorted coke in Number 10, the fist-fights in Downing Street, the all-day champagne binges in Westminster.
