Join this participatory walk, interspersed with snippets of pre-recorded audio, where you will stop to listen, observe, sketch and discuss points of interest about Balke’s walks in the 1830s across Norway’s frozen, sparsely populated, mountainous Telemark region.
Through the intimacy of sound, you will enter the world that Balke encountered on his epic walks and consider how more traditional ways of tuning in to the wider environment inspired him and contemporary artists.
This is a circular walk from Gallery and back, lasting for one hour and 40 minutes. Please wear comfortable shoes. A hot drink will be provided on your return to the Gallery. No prior knowledge of art history necessary.
