Seeking Saxon Chippenham

In 877-878AD; Alfred, King of Saxon Wessex was celebrating Christmas at his royal vill in Chippenham. What happened to Alfred during those celebrations and the months immediately after are one of most decisive turning points of English history. This new exhibition uncovers the life of people in Saxon Chippenham. With the help local archaeologists, who have excavated parts of the town, we discover what histories lie beneath.
