Robert Hulse, Director of The Brunel Museum, will give a free talk about the life and achievements of the great Isambard Kingdom Brunel (1806-1859). Robert Hulse, Museum director of the Brunel Museum will give a free talk about the pioneering and Britain's most daring engineer, Isambard Kingdom Brunel (1806-1859) is often thought of as a Bristol man, but he always lived in London. His first project aged 19 years was the Thames Tunnel, where he worked with his father on what was dubbed ‘the Eighth Wonder of the World’. I would like to reclaim Brunel for London, and explain why his first and last projects in the capital are key to understanding everything he did.
