Professor Michael Wood reflects on his recent BBC TV project which took one Midlands village through the whole of English history, which The Independent called ‘the most innovative history series ever on TV.’ The series was made with the help of the villagers themselves, and their schools clubs and societies. Illustrated with images and clips, the talk will go from the Romans to World War II and beyond, reflecting on the value of local history, and showing how the tale of every community – the people’s history – is also a mirror of the national story.
