Longthorpe Tower, 13 & 14 December, 10am – 5pm £4 Adults, £3 Concessions, £10 Families It’s 1371, Christmas is coming, and the Thorpe family will soon be home to celebrate! Join the servants at Longthorpe Tower as they prepare for the family’s return and find out how the festive season was celebrated in the Middle Ages. Help the cook prepare food for the Christmas feast, practice drill with the Tower guards, and children can make a medieval Christmas decoration to take away. Christmas Countdown Peterborough Museum, 29 November, 10:30am – 12:30pm £5 per child; accompanying adults free Start your countdown to Christmas in style and make an advent calendar garland with decorative paper, vintage festive images and ribbons! Suitable for ages 5+. Christmas Bird Masks Peterborough Museum, 29 November, 2 – 4pm £5 per child; accompanying adults free Design and make your own spectacular 3D paper sculpture bird mask. Decorate the snow white base with Christmassy decorations, as well as feathers that you’ll cut, curl and score from coloured paper. Suitable for ages 6-10. Brilliant Baubles Peterborough Museum, 13 December, 10:30am – 12:30pm £5 per child; accompanying adults free Get creative and make sure your Christmas tree is a festive feast for the eyes with sequinned, shiny, recycled, filled and fruity baubles to make! Suitable for ages 5+. All wrapped up! Peterborough Museum, 13 December, 2 – 4pm £5 per child; accompanying adults free Make your presents extra special this year with handmade wrapping. With potato printed paper, unique tags and origami bows, you’ll have Christmas all wrapped up! Suitable for ages 5+. Festive Felt Peterborough Museum, 6 December, 10:30am-12:30pm or 2 – 4pm £5 per child; accompanying adults free Decorate your house with funky festive felt this year – from cute mice with candy cane tails, to 3D tree ornaments, they’ll be as fun to hang up as they are to make! Suitable for ages 5+. Adult Events Stained Glass Ornaments Workshop Peterborough Museum, 30 November, 10am – 4pm £65 per person Learn the art of stained glass with Shedglas Designs and make unique Christmas decorations to take home. From cutting and grinding the glass to applying and soldering the pieces together this workshop will provide all the skills you need! All materials and lunch will be included. Over 16s only. Festive Floristry Workshop Peterborough Museum, 7th December, 10am-1pm £30 per person. Design and make a Christmas wreath and festive candle arrangement. Our experienced florist will guide you through the techniques used to make a luxury decorative wreath and festive candle arrangement for your home or to give as a gift. All materials provided, please bring your own snips or strong scissors. Over 16s only. Willow Christmas Stars and Trees Workshop Peterborough Museum, 14 December, 10am – 12:30pm or 1:30pm-4pm £25 per person Make beautiful Christmas decorations for inside or outside your home with expert weaver Sue Kirk. Using willow and rush, the workshop will cover techniques such as rose ties, two-ply cordage and god’s eyes – with opportunities to add personal touches! All materials provided. Over 12s only; all children must be accompanied by an adult.
