ou may have heard of Edith Cavell, but what do you really know about her? On Wednesday 19 November at 7pm, Don Chiswell will be exploring the enigmatic life of the British nurse and humanitarian. The lecture will take place at the John Clare Theatre, Central Library.
There are hospitals, car parks, roads and even a mountain named after Edith Cavell, many of which have the most tenuous link with her. How did this come about? Why did a nurse from Norfolk become an international icon? And how does the legend compare with the realities contained within history?
