LUNCHTIME LECTURE: Southeast Asia: The Arts of Tai Magic

LUNCHTIME LECTURE: Dr Conway spent five years of research for her book "Tai Magic: Arts of the Supernatural". She interviewed practitioners and their clients and recorded supernatural rituals in northern Thailand and Shan States of Burma. The lecture is illustrated with nineteenth century "magic" textiles, dress and manuscripts and highlights current supernatural practices. Led by Dr Susan Conway from Centre of Southeast Asian Studies, SOAS. The Lydia & Manfred Gorvy Lecture Theatre This talk is part of the Asian Art Week 2014.
