Library Lates: Quadrants: Telling the Time by the Sun and Stars

A quadrant is a mathematical instrument in the shape of a quarter-circle piece of metal or wood with a string and plumb bob attached to one apex. Join Louise Devoy, Curator of the Royal Observatory, as she uses the rich collections of the Caird Library to explain the history and use of this ingenious device favoured by astronomers, surveyors, navigators and timekeepers in the centuries before the quest for longitude.
