Did you know that chemistry lies behind the fibres in your clothes, the many colours they can adopt, and even the history of your community? Understand the part Manchester played in bringing synthetic pigments to the world by trying out a modern spectrometer and seeing the difference between natural and synthetic fibres at the molecular level. Made-in-Manchester chemistry from Dr Frank Mair and Dr Katayune Presland, with a short film and book reading about Lancashire's fibre production. Part of the Colours, Community and Chemistry exhibition and Manchester Science Festival 2014.
