Join artist Phoebe Myers on Saturday 4 October to help create the Freedom Banner. The Freedom Banner is being produced collaboratively by online participants, People’s History Museum visitors, and Phoebe Myers. It documents the freedoms, both big and small, which are important to people. Phoebe has worked with the People’s History Museum on a number of learning workshops, and has been inspired by the museum’s collection to create the Freedom Banner. The banners in the collection generally represent groups with shared views, clubs and unions. Most of the people who contributed to the Freedom Banner have never met, but they have come together to create a banner which celebrates the freedoms we enjoy, and reminds us of freedoms which still need to be fought for. Part of Free For Arts Festival, a non profit celebration of art and performance which runs from Friday 3 to Friday 10 October 2014 at venues in and around Manchester.
