Origins of mummification in Egypt

Recent research shows that the first mummified remains to be found in the Nile Valley date from 3500BC rather than 3000BC as previously thought. Renée Friedman shares her research on the origins of the mummification process, the relationship between natural and artificial mummification and how this informs our views of a process so ingrained in our understanding of the ancient Egyptians.
