Lunchtime Lecture: When Having a Conscience was a Crime

In 1916 you could have been imprisoned for refusing to join the military – the men who stood on their consciences suffered terribly, but their stories provide a fascinating insight into the mood of the time and the bravery of those who went against it. This talk is part of the museum’s ‘On the Beat; Crime on the home front project’.
