Introduction to Building Dry Stone Walls

This beginners’ course will not only teach you the fundamental skills to build a traditional dry stone wall but you will also be leaving a legacy onsite, as the parts of wall you help build will remain in the Beamish landscape for many years to come. The day starts with an introduction to dry stone walling, looking at those we have at Beamish, and seeing how they are constructed and discussing the different styles. The rest of the day is spent hands-on, learning the basic techniques and helping build parts of walls that will form the borders of farmland at Beamish.
