Saturday Spotlight: Magdalene Odundo at the Pitt Rivers Museum

Professor Odundo is an international ceramic artist known for her distinctive hand-built anthropomorphic vessel forms. in 2008 Odundo received an OBE in the Queen's birthday honours in recognition for her contribution to education and the arts and the African Art Recognition Award from Detroit Institute of Art, USA. In 2012 Odundo was awarded the African Heritage Outstanding Achievement in the Arts and in 2014 an honorary Doctor of Fine Arts from University of Florida, Gainesville, USA for her global contribution to education and research in the ceramics arts. Her work is included in national and international public and private collections. Professor Odundo will speak about her career, her art and her sources of inspiration, including objects from the Pitt Rivers collection.
